The neighborhoods of the town of Chania, located within the old, fortress walls, keep their Venetian exquisiteness. We walk along the narrow lanes of the old town, leading down to the port. Specifically, we visit Topana, the neighborhood of well to do Christians during the Turkish occupation of the island of Crete, the Jewish neighborhood with the architecture of its buildings being clearly influenced by both the East and the West. We also visit the commercial area of Stivanathika, famous for its leather goods. There, we meet a skillful boot maker whos peaks to us of his art.
