Falasarna beach
Falasarna beach
The road from Chania to Kastelli continues west to the villages of Platanos and Falasarna. There is a right turn (sign to Falasarna) before the village of Platanos, 16km from Kastelli, Kissamos. At the top of the hill you will have a magnificent view of the sea and the wild landscape of western Crete. The area of Falasarna has an ancient city and harbour, incredible sandy beaches and a small fishing harbour.

I would like to tell everyone that i have become a big fan of falasarna. For the past 5 years i have been going there and enjoying every minute of it with my wife. The beach is beautiful and the sea is crystal clear. We go every september and this year will be the first time that we will go in july. I can not recommend any rooms because we go by trailer. All i can recommend is our favourite tavern which is called Taverna Vassilis. Its the only tavern I found that had plenty of space for our kids to play. Something very important to us along with delicious food.
Another thing that is worth seeing in crete is cretan weddings. If someone invites you, never say no, you will not regret it.

Also i highly recommend going to Balos and Elafonisi. Stunning beaches. I love Crete.

I went to Falassarna in July 2006 and I sore to my self to come back again. The sea is wonderful, clear and blue. The shores are sunny but you don´t felle too hote because of the meltemi wind that blows in this part of the island. I´ve been staying for 2 nights at the Anastasia and Stathis pension and I had wonderful time with them: Anastasia and Stathis are a wonderful couple, very nice people, and their life in Falassarna is blessed by their love. They prepare a wonderful breakfast for their guests. Their rooms are big, they all have a toilet with a wonderful shower in it, and all are new and very clean. I strongly advice you to stay there.

You can eat in some tasty tavernas in Platanos, like Zacharias, where I had the best lamb in my whole life.

I strongly advice, while in Crete, to go to Falassarna!

Cristina
