Traditional handicrafts in the village of Anogia
Anogia is a village high in the Psiloritis Mountains. It is 54km east of Rethymnon on the Rethymnon - Panormon - Perama - Anogia road. Anogia is 36km from Heraklion on the road Iraklion - Tilisos - Sklavokambos - Anogia. Because of the village's isolation, local customs, dress, and dialects have been preserved.

People are friendly and warm. (I hope it´s not because they want to ´sell´.) It´s not certain that they actually make the products sold as ´tradition al´. (Try ´galaktobu reko´ for once. It´s worthwhile).
Buildings are a bit ugly though. Not much of tradition or style in their architecture, except the little square.
Lots of cars parked everywhere, making noise and obstructing traffic.
´Nida´ is beautiful, as well as the way to ´Shinakas´.
As a whole, Anogia is worth paying a visit.
