As you pass through Lassithi Plateau never forget that Skapanis Spot is in Selia, sit and have rest... Near you since 1997 GETTING HERE: Coming from Agios Nikolaos through Mesa Potamoi a few kilometers before Plateau of Lassithi. On your right side our two wind mills outside will welcome you. Coming from Heraklion, you follow the way to the left to Pinakiano, Lagou, Tzermiado and after Moni Kroustallenias you follow the way to the left for Mesa Lassithi to find the road that leads to Agios Nikolaos. You will find Skapanis Spot two kilometers after Mesa Lassithi. It’s worthwhile.
DO NOT MISS OUT ON: During the winter time enjoy smoked pork (apaki) and the grand mother sausages – local cheese mizithra – the famous Cretan dry bread (dakos) - various Cretan omelets and salads with raw wild vegetables. Lamb and pork in the oven and cream cheese pie with honey. THE PLACE TO BE: The tavern is 1000 meters above the sea level and stays fresh during the summer. During the winter the warmness of the fireplace makes a contradiction to the snow Hill of Dikti Mountain and raises the heat. The panoramic view of the Lassithi Plateau stays marvelous all the time. SIGHTSEEING: Only 7 kilometers away you can visit the folklore Museum in Agios Georgios and after 12 kilometers there is the well-known cave of Zeus God. You will also find many churches, monasteries and thematic parks around the Plateau.
