In the picturesque village of Vámos, in the province of Apokóronas, the "Stérna tou Bloumosífi" (Bloumosifi's Cistern) is the traditional tavern owned by the agrotouristic enterprise Vamos SA accommodated a building renovated to its original style of 1905.

Getting there:
The tavern is only 5km from the Haniá - Rethink highway, 20km away from Haniá and a little farther from Réthimno. You can reach Vámos either via the junction of Agii Pántes and Paidohóri or through the village of Kalíves.

Vámos SA commenced life through the endeavours of a group of friends originating from Vámos, all sharing love and pride for their village, as well as vision for the development of Apokóronas.

Do not miss on:
The tavern "Stérna tou Bloumosífi" offers a wide variety of traditional Cretan specialties, such as but not limited to delicious meat cooked in a wood burning oven (cutlets, tenderloin, pork and lamb), kalitsoúnia, stuffed aubergines, snails, souvláki, rooster stewed in wine with traditional Greek pasta, roast veal with pasta and tomatoes (Youvétsi), aubergines with xinóhondros, Sfakiá cheese pie with honey and local wine. All culinary creations are exclusively prepared with olive oil.

The establishment:
The tavern is situated under a large plane tree that offers extraordinary coolness all day long during the summer. During the winter the interior is heated, and offers thus very pleasant and cosy atmosphere.

In the village of Vámos, from which the owner's firm name has originated, a series of agrotouristic activities have developed. More specifically, the traditional wine and grocery shop "Mirovólo" accommodated in a former wine tavern trades in local wine and other products standardised by Vamos SA that are produced in cooperation with local housewives.

Here you will find among others olive oil, cheese preserved in oil (ladotíri), local wine, tsikoudiá (a traditional grape-based spirit), xinóhondros, traditional hilopítes pasta, grape-juice syrup (petimézi), sea salt collected from salt ponds, marmalades and jams, herbs, sweet preserves, and organic products.

Next door you can relish a coffee or dessert at the café "Liakotó" offering an unbeatable view to the White Mountains (Lefká Óri). Vámos SA consists of 23 traditional houses dating back to the previous century, all renovated to their original style, ideal for special occasions. They are all built with a traditional architectural style with material such as stone, wood, and natural colours.
