Everyday master-class schedule
1st day: Arrivals / Class 18:00 p.m. - 21:00 p.m.
2nd to 6th day: Class 10:00 a.m. - 13:00 p.m. and 18:00 p.m. - 21:00 p.m.

  • All the seminar's participants are kindly requested to state the time and way of their arrival to Heraklion as well as the time and way of their departure at least ten days before the beginning of the seminar.
  • On the departure date, students must free their rooms, the latest until 10:00 a.m
  • Information concerning your transportation from/to the airport or port will be sent to you via e-mail one week before each seminar as long as you have sent us information concerning your arrival and departure.

Hazem Shaheen is an Egyptian musician from the city of Alexandria. He graduated from "The Higher Institute for Arabic Music" with a grade of Excellent with honours, in 1999. He also graduated in 2002 with a grade of Excellent with honours from "The Arabic Oud House", founded by the renowned Iraqi musician Nasseer Shamma. Hazem was awarded 1st prize as "The Best Oud Player in the World" in the International Oud Competition in Beirut sponsored by the Catholic University in 2002. He is a leading and founding member of the band "Eskenderella" which performs Egyptian Heritage music of Sayed Darweesh and El Sheikh Emam, as well as their own songs, which are composed by Hazem and written by various Egyptian poets such as Fouad Haddad, Naguib Shehab El din and Ahmed Haddad. Hazem has worked as a Oud teacher at "The Arabic Oud House" for 5 years, then he went to The Cairo Opera House where he currently works as the Oud teacher. Hazem has published his first music album "Al 'Aysh Wal Malh" in 2006 with the "Masar" band and has recently published his first solo album, "Things That I Miss" or "Hagat Wahshany" in 2009. He is now in the process of recording a new duet album with the Syrian/French flutist Naissam Jalal.
