The old town district of Chania is composed of small picturesque back streets and buildings in the old style, which display the influence of many foreign settlers who lived in the area throughout the past centuries. Theotokopoulos street is one of these small back streets that lead to the Old Harbour.
You will find Venetian mansions with strong oriental configurations from the times of Turkish occupation in addition to Neo-classical buildings. This area has been called Tophanas since Turkish times when guns were stored in the area. It was a prosperous part of town and had been a neighbourhood of the Christian aristocrats.
The Anastasia Apartments are situated on this street. The building is one of the 15th century and has been renovated according to the Specifications of 1995. Three out of the four apartments are located on two levels. A beautiful iron staircase leads from the sitting room ( which consists of a sofa bed and can be converted to 2 single beds) to the double bedroom above. Each apartment consists of facilities such as: small multi-kitchen ( refrigerator, cooking equipment and sink), private bathroom,tv and air condition. Also each apartment has the capability to turn into 3bed or 4 bed apartments. Apartment No1 has two balconies, one in the first floor and the other on the second floor where the bedroom and the bathroom are. Both balconies are facing Theotokopoulou street. Apartment No2 also has a large balcony facing a small narrow street ideal for sun tanning. Apartment No 3 has no balcony but traditionaly is one of the favorities, because of the low shieling which covered by wood. Apartment No 4 is located in the ground level, and has direct access to Theotokopoulou street.
