We visit Elounda on average twice a year. Great place. Winter visits are my favourite, only done 2 but we mangaged to get halcyon days on both. The red eye from Manchester to Heraklion is not at all bad, the Crete connection from Athens is 6.1/2 hours after take off here, about £250 pp.

Oct 06 was WET freak conditions, but Elounda was not as badly affected as other districts.

We love it in the village (Schisma area), Eden Music Bar is the best place for people with small children, they have a play area to the rear and cater for all ages.

Regular visitors all have their favourite places,we´re greedy, have about ten! FRienDS being our ´local´ when we´re there, try a brownie if you visit,. Babel for internet footie plush comfy and lovely people: Paradosiako,Mam s,PortoRino,Lot usEaters,Aridan e,Melissos, Tryst for meals (and lovely people, just a sample of the great places there, each place has a unique reason for going back. We visted at the start of May and couldn´t fit all of them in,we were on a ´meet up/50th celebration holiday´ and visted places we never had and were never once dissapointed. Elounda is a home from home something for everyone, not typical 18-30´s though,if that´s what you like don´t go. There are booze cruises from Ag Nik. a beach to flop on, fishing, sailing, diving all catered for if that´s your ´thang´ I´m a people watcher, and I get it in bucket loads, rarely get back ´home´ before sunrise.

Spinalonga( The Island- Victora Hyslop) is about 15 mins away, it was lovely in October 06. so green because of the rain. We always visit Palaria taverna in Plaka when we visit Spinalonga but this is just one of the great tavernas in Plaka. The usual tourist trips are on offer in Elounda village if you want to get out and about.

We stay in the ´cheap seats´ as staying in 5* does not give a real feel for the place and it means three trips for the price of one staying where we do.they welcome us like family

If you like pamper sessions, you can book them and have the best of both worlds.
