Walking down Chalidon street towards the old harbour in the centre of Chania, one can find on the right  hand the Orthodox Cathedral of Chania, the "Panagia Trimartiri" that is celebrated on November 21 (local holiday). The cathedral was built in 1864 on top of a pre-existing church composed of two aisles. During the Turkish occupation the church was converted into a soap factory but was still regarded as a sacred place to pray for a favour from the Virgin Mary (Panagia).
