The Grand Staircase, Festos

This monumental staircase ascends from the West Court Theatre Area to the palace. The 13 metres stairs are a unique accomplishment of Minoan architecture. Each step has been cut out of the existing rock and the steps are slightly convex so that the rainwater will run off them.
