The Porta del Lazzaretto also known as the Agios Georgios Porta was where the lepers once begged. The Venetian inscription on the wall and the walls that extend towards the museum are well preserved. There are also two Turkish fountains placed near here that were in other parts of the city. The moat directly below the Agios Dimitrios Bastion (Platia Eleftherias) is used as a public parking lot. The emblems from this gate are preserved in the Historical Museum of Crete.
