Akti Papanikoli is parallel to the beach in Nea Chora a suburb on the west side of Chania that has many fish restaurants as well as the public beach of Chania.

The closest beach to Chania can be reached by walking west along the water front from the Firkas Bastion. There are public showers here and also a small fishing harbour. There are also many fish restaurants.
