Agia Ekaterini is a church on the rim of the plateau, south of the village of Anopolis. To reach, it follow the stone path on the south side of the village. From there you have a superb aerial view of a major part of southern Crete, from Loutro to Sfakia to southern Iraklion--west to east. The village of Loutro, can be reached by boat or on foot. A sign painted on a wall in the main square of Anopolis states: “To Loutro -- No Car”. From the church to Loutro there is a zig-zag path that is worth walking down -30 minutes to Loutro. The steep uphill path is obviously much more effort. The church of Agia Ekaterini is an easy 15-minute walk from the centre of Anopolis on the path indicated. Right beside Agia Ekaterini, on its west side, are the remains of Ancient Anopolis exactly on the rim of the mountain drop. The site is completely unexcavated and is seen as piles of rocks.
