The Turkish Pasha designed the Kipos - The Public Garden - in 1870, following the style of a formal European garden. Located in the city centre between Dimokratias strett and Tzanakaki street, it encompasses a small zoo, a cafe, an open air cinema, and the city clock tower in the northeast corner.
