The Central Court of the palace, Zakros
The Central Court, on a northeast-southwest alignment is slightly different than the other palaces of Crete. It is also considerably smaller. The entrance to the court was through the two pillars in front of the lustral basin. In the northwest part of the court there is a large block thought to have been an altar. In the southeast corner of the court there is a well in which was a cup was found with olives in water, conserved for more then 3000 years. This well still provides fresh water.
