Pithari and chests in the Magazine area, Knossos
From the upper floor it is possible to view the Long Corridor of the Magazines below. The large pithari probably contained grain and olive oil. Evidence of intense fire may be seen on the pithari and door steps. The chests or rectangular pits in the centre of the magazines were built as extra storage facilities.
