The Cultural Exchange Institute (Tubingen - Germany) following the signing of the agreement with the International Exhibition Center of Crete, is presenting the "MARILYN IN THE ARTS" exhibition.

The exhibition approaches the phenomenon Marilyn Monroe through the Arts.
Andy Warhol, Christo, Arnulf Rainer as well as photographers such as Bert Stern or Douglas Kirkland, amongst others, unveil both the individual and the myth in all its facets.
The critical distance that arises through this procedure reveals the balancing act between the two counterparts Norma Jeane and Marilyn, and stands for the unique quality of the show. Intentionally there are no personal Marilyn Monroe‘s memorabilia featured to avoid reinforcing the glamorous aspect.
The exhibition "Marilyn in the Arts" consists of more than 200 artworks
and multipart installations subdivided equally into a comprehensive, documentally
and artistically valuable photocycle and a unique composition
of great artworks including paintings, works on paper, graphics, videos
and sculptures from different epochs and styles.
There are 26 international acclaimed photographers and 52 well-known European and American artists represented in the show.
