Historical anniversary of the Battle of Tower of Voukolies (7-2-1897). The celebration is in the honour of capture of the tower of Voukolies by the local rebels and the military forces, that was sent to the island by the Greek Government for the liberation from the Turks.
The Tower of Voukolies was one of the most powerful in the area and its capture was very helpful in the expansion of the revolution and the liberation of the wider area from the Turks. For the first time it was officially celebrated on 7-2-1999.
