The abandoned Halepa Monastery
The abandoned Chalepa Monastery is on the hill above the village of Tsachiana, Milopotamos and has an exceptional view of the valley. The monastery church is a double-aisled basilica without a dome. The monastery itself is very old but there is no precise information on when it began. To the left of the main door there is a fountain with relief carvings. The monastery was a centre of revolutionary activity against the Turks and it was destroyed in 1821; today it is essentially non- functioning.
