The road from Kakodiki continues south to Paleochora on the Libyan Sea. Paleochora is 77km from Chania on the road Chania - Tavronitis - Voukolies - Kandanos - Paleochora. It is very near the southwest tip of Crete.
The town of Paleochora is behind the castle on a small peninsula. There are also many Byzantine churches in the area.

My first visit was 10 years ago and I fell in love with this place ... and an austrian guy living in Pal ... it was paradise !! the guy is out of my head since that time but not Paleochora !! I loved the main street, the agio´s bar, the food, the jewerly shops, the beach and treck road to elafonisi, the ambiance during the day and at night, the silent, ... the cretan life !! I really want to go back and show the place to my little son. My dream would be to buy a house there because Pal offers you to appreciate each second of your life ...

A big hug to Yannis ... a good friend of mine living in Paleochora.

Hello!

My first visit to Paleochra was about 10 years ago. My wife and I came back in 2005, and Paleochora had changed a bit. But we found it very nice and friendly, and we have been back for 4 weeks in 2006. We had a wonderfull stay, and we have booked 4 weeks in August/Sept. 08.

We like the place, the suroundings, - but most of all the people.

Had 2 weeks at paleo in May 2007. Fell in love with the place within 24 hours. So much so that we have already booked to go back in Sept 2008.

Favourite taverna was the Acrogialia on the east side but all are very good. Zygos on the west side near the post office do the most fabulous special omelette. Watch out for the effervescent Tonia.

I spent 4 weeks in Paleochora for the first time in 1979. Went back in 2004, and it was still such a wonderful place. Some new houses and the house I stayed in was gone...

And now I am going back for two weeks in July, I love the place and I long to do the walk down Ag. Irini....and some other walks and rides on bike. And the food, the lambstew....and......

I visited Paleochora in 2005, and fell in love with the place. I had intended to return before now, but there are so many Greek islands to visit that I have yet to do so.

I am planning on going back next summer, and I am looking for any recommendations for accomodation. There will be just 2 of us, and we are looking for a large apartment, with 2 bedrooms. We want to stay for at least 3 weeks, from early June through to July. We also want to travel as far as Gavdos, if only for a few days, so any hints would be gratefully received.

So, if anyone owns or knows of good accomodation in the area, please email me.......

I visited Paleochora three years back in August which was fantastic. Spent the whole week on the west side of the beach not far from the cafe. Great place and I know why so many people enjoy it so much hope to be back there in Sept.

We have been visiting Paleochora for the past 10 years and never once have we been disappointed. The only problem is where to eat and drink as every where is just first rate
