Paleohora beach
The penisula of Paleochora is on the southwest part of Crete, 75 km from the city of Chania. The town is built in the middle of a peninsula, on both sides of the which there are public beaches that have long, wide stretches of sand or pebbles. Pachia Ammos is the long sandy beach on the west part of the town with umbrellas, showers and cafes.
Around Paleochora one can always discover a lonely bay or small beach for a quiet, almost private swim or sunbathing, even in the most crowded days of the summer, as there are numerous such places. West from Paleochora are the two beaches of Grammeno - one sandy and one pebbled next to each other. Further to the west is the pebbled beach of Krios with deep crystal waters. East of the town, along a narrow, dirt road one can reach the beach of Gianniskari with two lovely bays.
