The Archaeological Museum of Rethimnon is in the old Turkish prison, near the entrance to the Fortezza.
Historical and Folk Art Museum of Rethimnon is located on Odos Mesolongiou.
The Archaeological Museum contains finds from the Rethimnon province. Displays include Minoan pottery and sarcophagi, as well as a wide range of Roman finds such as coins, jewellery, pots, and statues.
The Historical Museum offers insight into a Cretan lifestyle almost unchanged from Venetian times, but swiftly disappearing. The two rooms contain musical instruments, farm implements, and traditional costumes, as well as jewellery, weaving, and embroidery.
