The huge base of the column in the West Entrance, Knossos

This area was a porch with its roof supported by a huge single column and with double doors opening to the Corridor of the Procession. The base of the column, the door sockets, and the indentation for the centre bolt are still evident. There is also evidence of an inner room, floored with red plaster.
